Educators implement effective planning, instruction, assessment and reporting practices to create respectful, inclusive environments for student learning and development.
Through out all my practicums I valued the importance of being prepared and well-organized. I worked to create unit plans and lesson plans that were through and well sought out. I assured that each lesson plans were planned with my students in mind. I ensured that my lesson plans were designed to connect subject matter to the interest of the students, as well as ensured the learning was accessible for all. I worked to find ways for all learners to showcase their learning and take control of the lessons.
To ensure my planning always had a next step I kept a detailed assessment binder through all my practicums. I took notes on student’s progress and achievements and used this as a springboard for all future lessons to know where I needed to go to next.
My final practicum allowed me the time with the students to plan unit plans and through this long-range planning I learned how to adapt in the moment as well as be flexible a pivot the learning when needed.
Below is a copy of a social’s studies unit plan I created and implemented in my final 491 practicum.
